Celebrate Japanese Art and Culture at Japan Day in Northallerton

Proud Sponsors of Japan Day

We’re pleased to announce that once again The Japanese Shop will be supporting Japan Day. Taking place at The Forum in Northallerton, North Yorkshire on Saturday 17th May, Japan Day is a vibrant celebration of Japanese food, art and culture. You’ll get the chance to taste some authentic Japanese street food, get dressed up in a real kimono and drink fresh green tea. Next you can try your hand at the art of origami, write a haiku poem and learn a little bit of the Japanese language. In case that’s not enough, there will also be martial arts and Japanese embroidery demonstrations. Guess how much it costs for all of this? It’s FREE!!*Authentic Japanese tea setting on a wooden table; green tea, bamboo leaf holder & lidded bowl

Featuring a Performance By Kimono World

In the evening there’ll be a performance from Japanese performing group Kimono World. This visually stunning performance will take you on a tour though the seasons of Japan, with customary music played on Japanese instruments, a tea ceremony performance and a traditional dance. The show is rounded up with a special performance for martial arts enthusiasts and a show-stopping kimono catwalk, followed by a Japan-themed raffle.
